Did you say earring pair beads ?

Today on Facebook, Sharyl McMillian-Nelson from sharylsjewelry raised the question why  beadmakers rather sell in sets than earring pairs and a lengthy discussion came up with some very interesting facts.

Well I am one of those rather selling in sets than pairs, which does not mean I don't make pairs.

In fact, every time I make 2 beads that are nearly perfectly identical, they come on my earring pairs string. I intended to take pictures and list these each time a string is full.
Well, that did not quite work out, as you can tell from the picture…I currently have 2.5 strings full of earring pair beads, 44 pairs in total!
Now I am off to take pictures of them and list them, maybe in groups of 2 or 3 pairs ?

Revisiting some old favorites!

In march this year, to celebrate my 10 years of lampworking, my studio got a real good clean-up.
One of the most feared tasks was to reorganize my frit collection. It took me several days and I was very proud of the result, as you can see on the picture below.
The only downside to it was that I no longer dared to use some of it, because it was so beautifully arranged in all those boxes…

But a few days ago, I was sitting in my studio and I had no idea what to make.So I took a deep breath and opened one of my clear boxes…

As you can see, I still know how to use frit. Some years ago, when still selling my beads on ebay, I made many beads in this style and in all shapes, mostly rounds, pillows and lentils. Now I tried them in my freeformed nugget style and I am quite pleased by the outcome.
If you like them too, they will soon be up on etsy, looking for new homes.

Featured on the Art Bead Scene Blog!!!

The amazing Heather Powers has featured my beads on the Art Bead Scene blog today. I am so overwhelmed and happy and ...well, speechless!, which does not happen very often! ;-) Thank you ♥

The picture above is one of my all lampwork rosaries , well nearly, except for the center and cross ;-)
Making rosaries is my other passion, but I seldom write about it here. I want to keep this blog centered on the beads and not start any spiritual or religious controversy. In case you were interested in taking a look at the rosaries, i have my other blog here . It is in german though ...

Help! I can't stop making these...

It's really strange!
These beads have kind of been my signature style for the last 5 or 6 years.
I always loved making them and I sold them well at shows or worked into jewelry, but in my etsy shop, nobody seemed to notice.
Only in the last few months, people seem to notice them and I have sold a few already.
This gave me new motivation to stock up on them in the store and now I cannot stop myself from making them in all different colors.
I even ordered new transparent glass colors to try out on these. My last order of transparent glass except for clear, must be a few years ago, as I mostly make opaque beads.
So watch out for the new colors in a few weeks when my next glass order will be here from the US!

New silvered ivory mixes

This a work of patience, designed by my daughter.
I usually sell my silvered ivory beads in sets of 6 or 10 beads of the same colour.
All the extra beads are collected in a large glass jar and every now and then, my daughter gets to combine them to mixed sets.
She has a great eye for colour harmony and much more patience then I do.
All the beads are best quality, they are assorted by size and colour.
No custom orders on these, they are one of a kind :-)
Now looking for new homes here:

My shop update is done now. Coupon code still active!

Phew!!! It was hard work, but now all my listings are updated. The currency is now in € everywhere and will make it easier for my european customers.
To all my US and Canadian customers: you will still be able to see the prices in USD or Canadian dollars, the only change will be that due to currency fluctuations, the prices might change a little bit every day, but only one or a few cents in either direction.
As a bonus, I also updated the shipping fees and I was actually able to lower them a little bit, as I found a cheaper supplier for the enveloppes I use.
Also, now every order for a value over 30€ in beads will get a free upgrade to registered and insured shipping.
The coupon code "Euros" which will give you an additional 15% percent off, will be active until June 20th, so if you plan on getting something from my shop, better get it now :-)

A few changes to my etsy shop

During the long weeks where I was not allowed to torch, I prepared a few changes to my etsy shop. I
I am still translating most listings into german as second language.
The official shop currency is now in Euros, which means that you still can order  and pay in US Dollar, but due to the exchange rate, the prices shown in Dollars will fluctuate each day with the official exchange rate.
Registered and insured shipping is now free for every order totaling or exceeding 30 Euros in bead value.
The picture above is from the latest set now listed:

As a small thank you for all your patience with me during those hard last weeks, you will get 15% off your order in my etsy shop with this coupon code: Euros

New beads listed on etsy tonight

Due to health issues (recurring flu, coughing, fewer, etc) I was told to stay away from the torch for a few weeks.
Slowly, my health is improving again and in between coughing attacks, I manage to make a few beads. My limit is actually 2 hours a week, but I count on being able to go back to the torch at least 3 times a week soon, wish me luck :-)
Here are a few new goodies, now listed in my etsy shop

Presenting my bead soup partner and all the goodies I got :-)

Isn't this the most gorgeous bead soup ever seen?
So many beautiful beads and pendants, many of them handmade..... I am so in love with every single piece send to me by:
*drumroll* ( I was squeeking with delight when I discovered my partner would be this very famous jewelry designer, whose blog I have been following for ever)

Rebecca Anderson from Songbeads

You can find her stunning jewelry creations here:

but most important, she also has a wonderful etsy supply  shop where you can get beautiful beads and wonderful artsy findings, as the clasp she sent me, a collaboration between her and ceramic artist Bo Hulley( from which she also included some gorgeous ceramic beads)

The golden owl is made by another great artist, Claire Lockwood. she makes the most amazing polymer clay creations. Before discovering her artwork, I was a little apprehensive about polymer clay, recalling  my childhood adventures with fimo...but there is no comparison whatsoever. She also makes message beads and the most gorgeous bunnies ( we have been swapping beads in the meantime, my lampwork beads for her amazing polymer clay.
The amazing owl connector is from Pips Jewellery. She also works in polymer clay, and I especially recommend her bird houses, so cute!!!

Tomorrow morning you will be able to discover the creations made from this wonderful and huge bead soup.
The moment I opened the package, my mind was racing with ideas and I spent all morning pondering ideas ... but then my daughter came home from school, screamed with delight, took everything upstairs to my studio and started working away.... and I must say I am very proud of what she did :-)

Bead soup in the mail

No bead  picture for this post..... I will show a picture of my assistant manager instead ;-)

I mailed the package for the 7th bead soup blog hop today...I should have done it earlier but could not leave my bed for a few days due to a bad case of the flu combined with a head cold!
Luckily, all the beads were already made.
I had made 2 matching sets but could not decide on which one to send so I sent both :-)
I am part of the second reveal date, and I am totally excited about it this time, because I got paired with an absolutely amazing artist, Rebecca Anderson from
I have been following her blog for more than a year now and it is a big honor for me, I hope she will like my beads...

New sparkling beads

I have been playing with silver again. These are crystal clear, all covered in silver. When the silver melts, it leaves beautiful sparkling mini droplets of fine silver all over the bead. Unfortunately, I was unable to capture the amazing sparkle with my camera, so the person buying these will get a nice surprise seeing them in real :-)

These beads are now up on etsy:
