I am in flower mood!

Finally the summer has arrived here and although it is getting almost too hot to torch, I spend the evenings at my torch making flower beads ;-)
This one is the first in a series of stone flowers: large flowers on top of focal beads in a stone pattern.

It is my second time around and this time, my partner is Leah Curtis from Beady Eyed Bunny:

A trip down memory lane

( this picture shows all my small spacers, approx 700 beads ;-)

Because I was unable to torch for a few weeks and missed fondling my beads, I took the resolution to organize my boxes and bags full of my own handmade beads. This took me own a trip down memory lane, and I want to share it here with you.

As some of you may know I took up lampworking more than 9 years ago because I was looking for unique beads to incorporate into my jewelry designs.
I was constantly on the search for that something special. Then , thanks to a friend, I was introduced to the wonderful world of lampworking. That did not ease my situation!
Technically speaking, it took me a few years to get the knowledge to be able to make the beads I imagined...but then the interest in making jewelry quickly faded as I became more and more obsessed with the beadmaking part and less interested in the jewelry designing part.

At about the same time I discovered lampworking, I also started making rosaries and religious inspired jewelry and this has been yet another direction in which I have been going since.
Quickly, it became clear to me that, being a devout catholic and having earned a master degree in theology, the rosary making should be my primary occupation and I am very happy with it.

Of course, my lampworking reflected this and I have been making many sets of smaller beads meant for using in rosary making, thus supporting fellow rosary makers in their designs. This explains why many of the bead sets in my etsy shop are organized either by 6 or by 10 beads, this being the number of beads mostly used in rosary making.

During my bead organizing, I realized I have way too  many beads. I used to hoard them for jewelry making purposes, but now it is clear to me this will not happen ;-) On top of this, my dads severe health issues and his suffering a few cardiac arrests during the last weeks made me realize we will not be here for always and we will not be able to take our beloved beads with us...

Yesterday I registered for the next bead soup blog party organized by the amazing Lori Anderson and it dawned on me what to do with all these beads. Almost all of  those treasured beads I could not bear to separate with will be neatly packed into surprise bags and listed in my etsy shop over the course of the next weeks.

For all of you who have read until here, I have a question: would you prefer the bags to have a mixture of focals, larger and smaller beads, or rather organized by color, style and size? Please leave a comment telling me of your preferences !

Thanks a lot for all your prayers and good wishes...

... my dad is slowly but consistently recovering, they implanted a mobile defibrillator, which will hopefully save him if he ever gets another cardiac arrest. He will have to stay for a few more days in hospital, but that is fine as long as there is no more imminent danger.
For me this means that a heavy burden has been lifted from my heart and I am back behind my torch;-)
This is the first bead I made after more than 4 weeks and it is up for adoption here:

Asking for your prayers

Several weeks without torching are lying behing me now and I still do not know when I will be able to start again.
First it was me having health issues and when I fully recovered, my father had to be hospitalized.
He has been there for almost 2 weeks now and he is in a very bad condition. He did have several seizures and a few days ago, he even suffered a cardiac arrest. They were able to get him back but he had to stay in the ICU for a few days and today he will be brought to a different hospital specialized in heart conditions.
I spend a lot of my time taking care of my mother and also in hospital with my dad.
Maybe the worst in all this is my daughter slowly realizing that her beloved grandpa is old and suffering and might not live to be 100 after all ...
